The band plays mainly its own songs. All songs are instrumental and played with Great Highland Bagpipe, drums and electric guitar. All band members are volunteers from The Clanranald Trust for Scotland, a non profit recognized organization in Scotland, which would spread and receive primarily the Scottish culture and Scottish heritage through entertainment and education. For this purpose, a replica of a medieval Scottish village named Duncarron.
The proceeds of the band are made of this task.
Charlie Allan had the idea for the band during the filming of Gladiator in 1999. After having taught himself to play the pipes, he sought musicians which he found in the ranks of the Clanranald Trust for Scotland.
The band have performed in United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Norway
Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Africa, Australia.
The Clanranald Trust is the "home", the foundation of the Three Pillars.
The Trust, a recognised charity, is an educational organisation established in 1995. The members of the trust are dedicated to promoting increased awareness of Scottish Culture and Heritage through interactive education and entertainment.
Their aim is to present a true recreation of our nations past, striving to provide a fitting testimony to our ancestors.
The Trust has a small but dedicated management team and a large contingent of volunteers who assist with the objectives of the Trust. Goodwill and the enthusiasm of the volunteers, who donate their time towards raising the necessary funds, allow the Trust to continue realising its educational ambitions.

The Trust has also achieved 20 successful years of experience working with schools.
The Clanranald Trust is constructing a full scale fortified medieval village in Carron Valley forest on the border of North Lanarkshire, Falkirk and Stirling councils. The village project has been named Duncarron and will be an interactive educational visitor attraction.
The idea behind Duncarron is to provide an arena in which groups, individuals and school parties can experience the atmosphere of an authentic, medieval, working community with hands-on history, learning from seeing and experiencing the past. The project will be fully accessible to wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility.
